Wise Republican Women

Meeting of the Executive Board

707 South Perrin, Decatur, Texas

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

This duly called meeting of the Executive Board of Wise Republican Women was held in the home of Ann B. Williams.  The meeting was held for one hour, beginning at noon.

WRW President Suzanne Sharpe called the meeting together and gave the prayer.  Officers present were: Suzanne Sharpe, Ann Williams, Dorothy(Dottie) Chase, Deb Brantner and Bettye Parker.  Associate Member. D. A. Sharpe also attended.  A quorum was declared and the meeting proceeded.

The minutes from the July 28, 2009 meeting were approved as written and distributed in advance.

The Treasury Report, was given by Dottie Chase. The WRW has a present balance of $10,443.44. There is still an outstanding debt for the Decatur Civic Center, which is under resolution negotiations.

Old Business:

Dottie Chase read the letter of thanks from the Operation Forever Free organization for the gift we sent representing the net proceeds from the shotgun lottery in the March 28 Fund Raiser event.

Bettye Parker brought us up-to-date on the status of the bill to the Decatur Civic Center.  She believes that it will all be resolved in the next month.

New Business:

The Texas Federation of Republican WomenÕs Annual Convention will be held in Galveston on October 13-15.  Suzanne Sharpe reminded us that, if we were planning to attend, our registration should be submitted by September 15, 2009.  The cost for the events, not including lodging, is $150.00, if paid by the 15th of September.  Later registration will be $175.00.  A motion was made by Dottie Chase and passed that the Executive Board recommend to the Wise Republican WomenÕs meeting of September 14 that Nancy Nellis and Bettye Parker be elected the WRWÕs delegates this year at the TFRW Convention.

At the TFRW Convention, Sally Bradberry will be honored in the Memorial Service for members who have passed away over the past year.

The Meet and Greet event will be held on October 10, 2009 at the Brushy Creek Winery.  We discussed the need for refreshments and it was determined that a sign-up sheet would be passed around at the next meeting with the necessary items on it.  Ann Williams will be in charge of that presentation September 14.

The September 14 WRW and WCRP joint meeting speaker will be our Texas Legislator Phil King.

Our yearly Rhinestone Fund Raiser will be held on March 6, 2010.  Michael Quinn Sullivan has accepted our invitation to be the keynote speaker.  Norris Perry will provide the entertainment.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Deb Brantner
